"Skins fans got syced over that 6-2 start, but as the season got deeper they lost they heart," haha thanks for rubbing it in Judah. Here is the DMV yearly rap up, similar to Skillz, aka Mad Skillz, yearly rap up but just focused on the DMV. There are definitely some funny lines and nothing too crazy and he covers some national headlines also. RA comes in at the end with some singing, I almost didn't even think she was going to be on the track haha.

This is one of my favorite songs from the album Stick 2 the Script and a great song to shoot a video to, I wish they had more Pimp C clips though. Statik chops up a bunch of Pimp C samples for the chorus and has Pimp's UGK partner Bun B and Houston unsung hero Cory Mo rhyming over it. The video is looks like it is shot in Houston and is directed by Wraithe for Kinetik Cinematix. If you haven't already, go and and get his album, it is definitely one of my favorite recent albums to drop and I rarely like the producer/DJ collaboration albums.

A much different post for us here at B&B but for those who know me they would not be too shocked. I spotted this gem of an album over at Blind I for the Kids and am really impressed with the whole thing. The song above is "Midnight Train to Georgia" sung by all 4 members mentioned above. I grew up on these R&B/soul/Motown/oldies whatever type of music you want to call it thanks to my Dad so I love everything about it. The symphony definitely adds a different dynamic and gives the songs a richer sound for all of these classics that they remade. Click the break for more tracks, the track listing and link to the Blind I post.

Wow, an actual musician who is a rapper, Charles Hamilton must be jealous, haha. B.o.B. plays with a live band for an Unplugged show in Atlanta and tears it up. In this clip B.o.B. performs "I'll Be in the Sky" and it looks like he is a dope performer, I wish the sound quality was just a little better though. I need to get my ass to a B.o.B. show in NYC ASAP, I have been loving his style for a long time and like the work he is doing more everyday.
A Big Sean freestyle to get everyone excited about his album Finally Famous which is dropping in '09. The freestyle is alright, there are points where I am feeling what he is saying and other points where he clearly gets off track, for example the two Louie Vitton lines. Considering most new artists freestyle abilities are complete garbage these days, this is some good work. I have been waiting for this album for a while now and want it to be released sooner rather than later in '09.
kanye_tiimy-g_sly-payback-mp3
It must be our lucky day, Fake Shore Drive drops an unreleased Kanye song from way back in the day on everybody and it is great to hear Kanye's rapping again. You know this is from way back when they are rapping about Randy Moss being on the Vikings haha, that seems like forever ago (forever being 2004). The other two guys are from out of Chi-town too and spit some good verses also. Kanye did not do the beat although there is a sampled sped up chorus so it would be easy to think he did.

I am leaving for the holidays and thought I would leave you with an appropriate song for this time of year. This is probably the only rap Christmas song I can stand and what's even better is they made a video for it! Make sure to check back in every now and then over the holidays because we won't be offline for long. I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.

I don't know why I haven't posted every single day of Freeway's Month of Madness because every single song I have checked out has been bananas. This song has got Freeway just going nuts with his flow and delivery again and the beat is cool with another sampled chorus and a nice retro R&B horn section loop. Freeway also dropped a video on us speaking about the beef and battle with his hometown rival Cassidy, click the break to check that out. Here is the link to the last song I covered on Freeway's Month of Madness called "Rap Spitters".
ItsTheReal posted up a new video today and it is in the holiday spirit. The guys make an infomercial suggesting to buy Wreckx-n-Effecxmas, a Christmas album featuring 12 different takes on Wrecks-n-Effect's track "Rumpshaker". I didn't think was that good until I went back and saw one of the track titles was "Rumpshaker ft. Busta Rhymes when he wore big hats and wasn't like everybody else" haha, wow. With all the bad Christmas raps out there I think The Real could have really had an easy time taking swipes at a lot more rappers in a video this time of year, I would have started here.
Donny goines gives us another video off of his album out now called Minute After Midnight. I like the songs that tell a story throughout the whole rap and this one is good one, talking of the struggles on the street. Statik Selektah provides the beat for this song and it is pretty soulful with the samples. Mills Miller directs the video and I am happy as hell that it isn't Rik Cordero, no hating on Rik, rappers just need to realize there are other director's out there.
