NewsI’ve been posting very sporadically as of late and that’s been because of a summer course I’ve been taking (music composition…I’ve been doing it for a while now but any new experience is a good one). The only thing that matters here though is that I have some catching up to do so let’s get down to it. This post is essentially the one-stop shop for all things Kanye-related that happened in roughly the last 24 hours. That might not seem like much but within a day, he previewed verses off of his new album at a Facebook conference and a Twitter conference and they’re big ones. Even though they were previewed acapella, they still sound fiery, especially the verse he spit from “Chain Heavy” (in the video above). Mr. West also got himself a Twitter account – a future source of many intriguing comments no doubt – and promptly announced that Good Ass Job as a title was no more. So all in all, some great news from the source of G.O.O.D. Music. Remainder of the videos after the jump.
I’m not a fan of these kind of multi-posts since it means not being able to give as much attention to each song/piece of news, but this will save my ass time-wise so here you go. First order of business is some good news by way of Toronto singer/rapper/songwriter/producer, k-os. After several albums, he will be dropping his first mixtape, The Anchorman Mixtape, July 23rd. Word is the tape will be for the most part strictly spitting, and there will be a Drake collabo on it. Let’s hope this tape won’t go the way of Jay Electronica’s Act II or Ski Beatz’s 24 Hour Karate School. Spotted @ CityOnMyBack. New music from Big Boi, Diggy, Cee-Lo and Wale after the jump.

If you are reading this then you already know… we are back up and running. We have been down a little over a week and it has been driving me crazy that I can’t share what I have been listening to over that time. Welcome back to the new and improved site (on our end unfortunately and not on the viewing end) and please check back with us as we should be back to our normal posting schedule by later today. As always thanks for sticking with us and for reading the site. The B&B Staff

A message to all rappers: just because you have accounts on Twitter, and Tumblr, and Facebook and everything else, that doesn’t mean we absolutely need to know every idea that pops into your head. Case in point, Wasalu over here. Every time he thinks of album plans, he blurts them out before they ever finalize. If you haven’t been following Lupe’s post-The Cool saga, here’s a condensed version:
So now that you’re up to speed, guess what just happened. Yeah, new plans. Via Twitter, Lupe writes, “Writing ‘The Great American Rap Album’ While Touring America…”. I don’t know if it’s just LASERS under a different name, or another album in itself, or if LASERS is being scrapped. All I know is that, in the words of Colonel Stinkmeaner, “this some ol’ bullshit”. This album could go untitled for all I care – I just want some new music. Big ups to Mike G for this.
I would have never in a million years believed this if it was just a rumour, but it seems like these guys actually got some work in with each other! Ash Roth, Bobby Ray, The Cool Kids, Charles Hamilton, Blu, Diggy, J. Cole, Wale and Lupe are collectively known as All City Chess Club. According to Sean at the lupend blog, it’s unsure whether this will be part of a full project or a single song/remix. Seeing as how busy alot of these dudes are right now, I’m leaning much more to the one track scenario, but either way this is a checkmate (hey it was either that or a revenge of the nerds joke).

As Crooklyn_P over at 2DBz said, Blu is definitely a quality over quantity kind of guy. He’s easily one of the best from the West to pop up in the last couple of years, and you can’t knock his skill. Now it seems like we might get something physical out of Blu soon enough, with an album set to drop in June. But as we all know, planned release dates are anything but set in stone (see: Act II, When Fish Ride Bicycles, the mythical Detox), so don’t hold your breath. Tracklist after the jump.
…no, not together, but wouldn’t that be something! Both veteran emcees have announced that they will be releasing their first official mixtapes. It’s seems so backwards now for an artist to be dropping his/her first mixtape only after making it and putting years of work in, but then again, they didn’t have the full force of these internets to push tapes like new artists do today. But whether these are their first mixtapes or their tenth, they’re going to be highly anticipated. I’m more into Common than Scarface, but both emcees have gained so much respect and rep their styles so well that I’ll for sure give both a listen. Speaking of Scarface, there’s word going around that the next Hip-Hop Honours will be honoring the South. While the South has garnered a fair share of animosity towards it in the past ten years, there’s no doubt that Scarface, Luda, UGK, OutKast, Geto Boys and even Lil Wayne deserve recognitions.
