RumorsThis tweet is supposed to be our indication that Eminem will be releasing a new Jim Jonsin produced single called “Not Afraid” this Friday. Well there is also this radio station reporting that the single was to be released Friday and is awaiting label confirmation which I expect will not come… ever. I am doubting the validity of this whole scheme and even if it is true Interscope/Aftermath artists have a knack for announcing new singles and not delivering on them. No shots, but we are still waiting for Dre’s supposed new single and I imagine we will be waiting for even longer before if we ever hear it at all. So until Friday keep your fingers crossed that we actually get it and then keep them crossed even more so that Eminem continues down the path of murdering his verses like he has been doing to everything he has been on since after the Relapse album. And in case you’re interested check out Eminem’s net worth as well as all the other richest rappers. I am skeptical of anything Detox related due to how long we have waited for it but with Michael Yo (above) and YouHeardThatNew both confirming means it just may be true this time. Either way we know with Jay and Dre on the same track it easily would be one of the most anticipated singles/collaborations since I don’t even know when. If you check out the above link you will read that it is supposedly “uptempo” which isn’t what I would expect from these two icons but I am intrigued to say the least. Look for that song later this week although I still feel like I am being made to look like a sucker.
…no, not together, but wouldn’t that be something! Both veteran emcees have announced that they will be releasing their first official mixtapes. It’s seems so backwards now for an artist to be dropping his/her first mixtape only after making it and putting years of work in, but then again, they didn’t have the full force of these internets to push tapes like new artists do today. But whether these are their first mixtapes or their tenth, they’re going to be highly anticipated. I’m more into Common than Scarface, but both emcees have gained so much respect and rep their styles so well that I’ll for sure give both a listen. Speaking of Scarface, there’s word going around that the next Hip-Hop Honours will be honoring the South. While the South has garnered a fair share of animosity towards it in the past ten years, there’s no doubt that Scarface, Luda, UGK, OutKast, Geto Boys and even Lil Wayne deserve recognitions. Lupe has been all over the net recently and today there are several things of his that I would like to post. First is this alternate version song for “Blackout” which was available as a bonus song on the Japanese version of The Cool. Trey Songz basically takes over the chorus but besides that there isn’t too much of a difference from the original. Second, Lupe released a public statement clearing up a lot of the rumors surrounding him and his music over the past year or so. There are definitely some interesting facts regarding his new album and his band Japanese Cartoon so check after the break for that and the download for this song.

This is a sort of re-post so that I can send your way some new facts about Lupe Fiasco’s mixtape, which is dropping November 25. As we’re approaching the release date for this tape, some more news dropped via Facebook and MTV Mixtape Daily. The mixtape finally has a name: Enemy Of The State: A Love Story. According to MTV Mixtape Daily, Lupe wants to prove he’s the best by any means necessary, therefore he’ll be dropping yet another new mixtape in the future and more albums after Lasers, which is welcoming news coming from the guy who cried “early retirement” not too long ago. Enemy Of The State will have no original beats and when asked as to why this is so, Lupe responded that he didn’t want to waste original production. I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again: Lupe Fiasco is one of the most talented rappers to have ever graced hip-hop, and so you can assume this is, as Clipse would say, kinda like a big deal. Phil Adé is a new artist for B&B and I have really been feeling his music. I first heard about him because he opened for Wale recently at the 9:30 Club in DC and I have been checking out the few songs I could get my ears on and liking them a lot. He goes off on this song for over 3:30 minutes and you get a good idea for his metaphors, punchlines and unique style. I have listened to these songs over and over and they are all standing up to the relistening test so I think I am going to have add this to my rotation and you probably should too. Download: Phil Adé – “Going Off” After admitting Sacha Baron Cohen’s ass in his face was a planned skit at the MTV Movie Awards, Eminem does a skit for Jimmy Kimmel’s show where he teaches him how to rap. The segment is pretty funny and it looks to me like Eminem is trying to remind everyone that he wants to get back into acting again. I know the Compton part was in the preview but it still was my favorite part of the whole video and had me laughing even when I knew it was coming. The late night television shows have really been on fire recently with the addition of The Roots on Jimmy Fallon and with Conan starting out with hilarious skits the first few days into his run. Is Eminem going to stay in the spotlight the whole time until Relapse 2 drops later in the year? It would be nice after his long absence from the game before Relapse. I had to throw this post up as an extra today because Jon Hope is one of our favorites at B&B as a rhymer and as an all around good dude. This is a cool clip, it is like an artist spotlight for all the blogs out there to know the artist and his music all at the same time. You really get a sense for the artist too in a snippet like this (or at least I do) because of him talking about such a comfortable subject, his hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. Later in the video you get to see him kill a performance of his song “Agreed” with a live band, something I have been all about for a while now. If you are looking for more music from Mr. Hope be sure to check back with us because we are putting together our first real mixtape for B&B and he is on it with a bunch of other artists we support. Yeah that’s right get your calendars out, in a couple weeks we will be releasing our first mixtape with Jon Hope, Lyriciss, NandoMcFlyy., QP, Freebass 808 and more on it, so stay tuned suckas! Are you guys finally feeling this dude? Well you should be after this and the track and “Grown Simba” (and no they aren’t the same song) and if not then just wait for his mixtape The Warm Up. J. Cole’s label, Roc Nation, has been the center of tons of rumors swirling around over which major label Jay-Z will sign his new music conglomerate to but honestly it doesn’t even matter because where ever he ends up he will be allowed to do whatever the hell he wants, it is just who will offer the most . If I were Jay I would stay separate from those sinking ships and find an independent profit model that works, but that is just me. Anyways, back to J. Cole haha, he is a really great lyricist and will climb probably climb into your rotation immediately if you haven’t heard of him until now. Check below the break to download the song. This joint is off of Young Jeezy and DJ Folk’s mixtape Trappin’ Ain’t Dead and is finally available with no DJ tags. Drake and Young Jeezy go in (cheesy pun intended) on this song but I am just not that big of a fan of Wayne’s rhymes, no hate, his music just isn’t for me. Jeezy has a pretty unique flow on this, especially for him, I had never heard him rap like this but I liked hearing him switch it up. I wonder when the hell the bidding war for this guy is going to end? I have heard both WMG/Atlantic and Universal/Motown both claim they got him but you know that can’t be the case. Shouts to Mr. X for liberating this for us.
