The Apple Juice Kid teams up with illRoots.com and OkayPlayer.com to bring you this album called Miles Remixed. You all know of our love for Apple Juice and he got a group of musicians to help him create this album that he produces. Now that is a real producer. Instead of me explaining it I will just quote The Apple Juice Kid himself,

This is an instrumental album using only Miles Davis samples, that was originally intended to be a modern soundtrack to a movie about the life of Miles Davis.  The last track features Yahzarah and Raheem Devaughn, two very talented vocalists that I loved working with.  I have been a huge fan of Okayplayer for a long time, ever since my former band Sankofa was opening for The Roots, and am extremely excited to have Illroots partner with them to release this album for FREE!!!

Above is one of my favorites on the album called “Tambo”.

Man the Kid really throws down on this album, I am just giving it my first run through and you can easily listen to this by itself the whole way through even though it is just instrumentals, haha I guess that is why he chose to make a jazz album. There are very few producers who engage the listener with so many layers of sound and melodies and who has as much quality with having live instruments as well as mixing in samples and other production, which just tops it all off. I would love to see an artist like Common jump on some of these tracks and murder them but am not sure if I even want someone’s voice taking away from the instruments on some of the songs. Music purists who think rap is all prefabricated bullshit and hip-hop heads should both love this project.

Here is the only non-instrumental track on the album and is the one Apple Juice talks about above called “Come 2 Me” ft. Raheem DeVaughn and Yahzarah. It is a slow jazzy song that both the boys and girls should love.

The final track highlights more of the jazz grooves and inspiration and music that Miles Davis provides the project. This song is called “Freddie Boi” and just like the rest of the tracks it is crazy.
