Today started off slow in hip-hop but ended off with a bang for sure. Up here, we’ve got a little saying: “Hip-hop ain’t dead, it lives in the north.” This post is for all Canuck hip-hop heads, and even if you’re not Canadian, check this out because this newly released music video features four monsters of hip-hop. “Quit While You’re Ahead” is off of Classified stellar album, Self-Explanatory (check youtube or iTunes) and it is basically stating the case as to why these four rappers are so important. Classified (from the very East) and Moka Only (from the very West) go over just how prolific they are by running down the numbers of how many albums, tours, and awards they’ve accomplished (both emcees I covered in a major post about who in Canadian hip-hop do you need to be listening to right now). Choclair and Maestro are Toronto rap icons, with Choclair having smash hits like “Let’s Ride” and Maestro being the man who is responsible for the Junos (the Canadian Grammys) having hip-hop category. If you’re Canadian, American, British, Australian, Indian – wherever you rep, give this track a listen because I can not praise it enough. |
