Off of Drake’s new (unofficial) mixtape, Heartbreak Drake Pt. 3, “Scriptures” is one of the few brand new tracks on that tape. Drake is a rapper that I’ll always follow not just because he’s a hometown all-star, but because he managed to blaze the scene before ever releasing an album. Unfortunately, the internet soldiers and e-thugs have turned on him, which is hilariously hypocritical since they were riding him so hard around the beginning of the year. I understand if someone is frustrated that Drake is saturating the market (which is true), or that someone is just not that into his sound and content, but you have to recognize the fact that he has accomplished alot for a half-Jewish child actor on a teen drama who lived in one of Toronto’s richest communities. “Scriptures” sounds unfinished, but the wordplay comes steady. While on the topic of Drake, as classic as So Far Gone was, I miss Comeback Season Drake, which is stupid to say considering that he hasn’t been on the scene long enough to miss any former phase of him yet lol.
