I don’t know how this song is being received down there in the good ol’ U.S. of A, but I’m going to call this a sleeper based on lack of buzz up north and lack of youtube views. I hated on OneRepublic sooo hard during their first album. My kind of rock needs that alternative edge to it (bands like Queens Of The Stone Age and Arcade Fire are on the top of my list), so when I heard how commercial OneRepublic was, it turned me off right away. After hearing this single, though, I’m eating my words. This is that kind of that song that you expect to hear on the radio all the time yet not think of it as a cop-out. The video is just as nice – I know the whole masquerade ball theme has been done many times, but with this song it feels fresh. The video only came out earlier this month apparently so there’s still time for the single to pick up steam before the album (Waking Up) drops in mid-November.
