AB the producer

As RA’s latest effort Victory Lap approaches she decides to lace us with a quick remix from it. I was feeling it even though it was a quick song but the dude doing ad libs needs to stop it. I understand that they are a part of hip-hop, and especially mixtapes, but the dude just says something and then drops the N bomb at the end of about 20 statements made at the beginning and end. Don’t let this dude scare you away though, RA keeps up her ferocious word play and even brings a different flow than is usual for her. I missed a previous track called “Sky’s The Limit” with AB the Producer over the holidays so I will include the downloads for both below the break.
Yep, let’s keep it real DMV today and go from The Five One to one of my favorite DMV spitters in RAtheMC. She brings fellow Studio 43ers Uptown XO and AB the Pro to help on the track and I had not listened to Gordo before but he throws down on it too. AB also makes some nasty beats but he also decides to throw some vocals on the track and it has been a minute since we heard him on the mic. RA’s new tape called Victory Lap is still scheduled to drop November 30th.
OK we are all back from our holiday fun and it is time to start the New Year off right with the appropriately titled mixtape One One Ten. XO had one hell of a year last year and if the Diamond District member keeps his buzz going this very well could be the year he gets signed to a major. I haven’t had a chance to check out all the tracks on the tape yet but seeing Oddisee and AB the Producer handling the bulk of the production duties makes me psyched to throw it in on and give it a good listen. As always, grab the link and the tracklist below the break.
I’m not sure why this video isn’t playing smoothly for me but hopefully it does for you.
This is off of his new project One One Ten being released on 1/1/10 (go figure). AB the Producer is on the beat.
“I be on my dope shit”… I have to admit Nando is always making songs that the chorus gets stuck in my head and that is a great trait to have as an artist. This song is from his mixtape Super Nike Nando which I hope none of you all are sleeping on out there because it was a hot tape. AB gets the production assist on this song and it is solid, sounding futuristic with the synth noises but still says simple with the driving beat. I am glad he let this loose because it reminds me to re-listen to this tape again *puts tape on and starts grooving*.
I keep getting so much music and can’t get it out fast enough to the masses. Cayan hit me up on Twitter with this track off of his upcoming project District of Caylumbia II/Socially Awkward, I knew the dude could rap but I didn’t know he could sing too so I was definitely thrown off a little when I clicked on this track and had to do a double take haha. Anyways, we also get a new, synth-heavy beat from AB too which always makes my day just a little bit better. This is the first post for the dude so let him know what you think in the comments or I may go crazy with how quiet it gets on here.
RAtheMC – “Cashmere Thoughts”
X.O. & A.P. – “DMV’s Finest”
New project from the DMV which remixes Jay-Z’s iconic album, Reasonable Doubt, with the artists spitting original lyrics over the recreated beats to make each song their own. Everyone is on this tape, RAtheMC, Lyriciss, Nando, AB the Producer, XO, AP, Pro’Verb, Lyriciss and just about everyone else and it is great to see everyone come together for a common project. I also was jealous the other night that I wasn’t in DC for the release party, it seemed dope and most of the people I follow in DMV hip-hop on Twitter were at the event and all were excited to be a part of it. Click the break to get the download link, tracklist (click on the image to enlarge it) and a video from the party the other night.
Here is another mix of all the songs that follow the theme of AutoTune and synthesizers. I named it Please Forgive Me AutoTune… because I was on the anti-AutoTune bandwagon when it first started being used but it has slowly grown on me. I also was not feeling almost everything Kanye did on 808’s & Heartbreak and still am not feeling it but think I have come along way from when all I used to do is hate on it. As you can see many artists get multiple tracks on this mix because of their love of it, like Kanye, S-Preme and Colin Munroe. I tried to include as little T-Pain as possible because honestly I could just stick his whole album up and it wouldn’t matter haha, but he only gets two features on this mix. Colin Munroe is by far the most innovative with his use and go figure that someone who can actually SING only uses it to add something different to his songs and not as the basis for his tracks. So enjoy the love/hate that spews forth from this mix but I’m sure no matter what you initially think you will eventually be bumpin this mix everywhere and loving it. Click the break for the tracklist and download link. Enjoy!
This is my favorite song I have heard from Marky. I wouldn’t say I have heard everything but I have heard a good amount of music from him and this is the best. I am really liking the chorus and the beat goes hard and I really like the piano loop. AB the Producer is quickly climbing up the charts of my favorite producers, he really has a lot of different types of beats and all of them are quality. “Delusional” makes me really excited for his album dropping April 3rd called Nothing is 43ver, which will be dope if the songs are as hot as this one.
New video from the DMV, this joint has been my anthem for a few weeks now and is one of my favorites. The video, directed by J. Benok & Chris, reps DC and is really professionally done, more so than I have seen from some major label artists. Cameras follow rappers throughout the day to where they meet at Pure nightclub at night where they are performing the song. Oh and 3 of these artists have mixtapes out right now that I know of and that you should go get, A.B. The Producer’s Producer’s Credit, X.O.’s RealMATIC and Lyriciss’ The Day Job should be in everyone’s iTunes by now.
