My favorite indie producer drops a mash up tape that gives Girl Talk a run for his money.
This is one of the more eclectic mash up tapes I have come across but it flows seamlessly. Grab the download link below the break.
The Kid hits us with his latest remix project and judging by his prior releases it will be some chill, dope ass shit.
Grab the tracklist and stream/download link below the break. “Flames” takes you for a ride with Cobe through his hood with everyone having a good time along the way. This is the first Cobe video from his mixtape Song of the Starz and this song bangs on all levels. The beat by Apple Juice was described as an attempt to be an “African A Millie” and it goes hard with the African drums and sample. Cobe can still be heard cleanly throughout the verses with the lack of instrumentation and rounds it out by spitting some of the better verses from his tape. Grab the link to the project by clicking it’s name above. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. Ahh it feels good to get back to posting after falling asleep last night while trying to figure out the posts for today and sleeping longer than I have in years. Freebass is such a dope group and Apple Juice and Suede of Camp Lo are two artists that I support to the fullest. Their music is so ahead of it’s time that sometimes it takes a year or two for others to start hearing what I am on certain tracks. I do not know if this is from a new project but I have been bumping Moonbass for a while now and hope their next one is as revolutionary as that mixfilm.

I’m no fan of the current craze to slap a trailer video or behind-the-scenes video on every little thing in hip-hop, so rest assured that if I’m posting a trailer/teaser video, it’s for a project that you can’t afford to sleep on. Not too long ago, a track called “24 Hour Karate School” by Mos Def (with production from Apple Juice Kid) hit the blogs, and now we know that it is off of Dame Dash & Ski Beatz upcoming mixtape of the same name. With features from the likes of Jay Electronica, Curren$y, The Cool Kids, and Jean Grae, the tape looks promising to say the least. 24 Hour Karate School drops on Monday, February 15. EDIT: Ski sent over the link for his upcoming project in the comment section. Get even more at www.24hourkarateschool.com

Wale was on a rampage yesterday and laced us with not one but two videos off of his album Attention: Deficit. If you remember correctly, “My Sweetie” was a bonus song on the digital album and was produced by the talented Apple Juice Kid. The song is meant to convey that African party feel and you get to see a bunch of girls dancing at a house party and it has that really raw vibe to the footage. “Pretty Girls” is the newest single and Gucci is obviously absent due to his current incarceration but Wale got tons of “pretty girls” (oh clever, I know) to stand in which undoubtedly makes this easier for me to watch it. Watch “Pretty Girls” after the break. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. Actually scratch that, I just got to the very end and he throws singing in there just to mock me. Ski and Apple Juice, who I’m pretty sure are called Smokin Apples as a production duo, provide the beat which sounds like a James Brown sample nicely chopped up. If you haven’t been keeping up with the Apple Juice Kid you can grab his video by clicking on the links and also see his band The Remix Project backing up Skyzoo below the break. I told you we would have another Apple Juice Kid beat to be dropping on you and this time it features Cobe Obeah on the mic. Cobe is not an artist I had listened to before this song but he definitely holds it down and here is what he said about the song.
The inspiration is original and interesting, not sure this will be as big as “A Millie” but I am liking the creativity. Download: Cobe Obeah – “Flames (Hot Musiq)” (Prod. Apple Juice Kid) Apple Juice Kid released a Miles Davis Remixed mixtape this year and decided to take that concept a step further with this all Louis Armstrong remix project. I love this stuff, it really brings a musicality to hip-hop that most people aren’t used to and he always sound original and refreshing. I haven’t had the chance to take a listen to it yet since I am at work but I can almost guarantee that it will be dope since his last one was and I know this man is actually a musician and always adds to the music and never detracts from it. Look out for some more AJK produced tracks in the near future too, we have one more over here that we will unleash sometime tomorrow, possibily even back to back with this post! The tracklist and download link are all below the break. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. Hahaha this had me laughing because of the whole Kanye situation that went down at the VMA’s the other night, sometimes you just have to take a step back and have a just enjoy the absurdity of it all. The Apple Juice Kid hit me up with this classic mash up for everyone to groove to and laugh at the situation. As for Kanye, he apologized last night on Leno and seemed contrite for his actions, it might be a little too late for some people but there really isn’t much else he can do now. I’m sure he is sorry on some level but he also took down the first apology he posted on his blog and added a new one equating his feeling like Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents. I have wasted enough time talking about this crap though so I’m going to stop and you can peep the video and get the song below the break.
