Straight out of B-more, 810 is a fresh face who has been getting some love from sites like 2DBz and DJBooth.net. A self-described “musician/blue-collar worker/college student”, he fits nicely into the backpack rap lane*. Glass Half Full is produced almost completely by Mydus, who really reminded me of Metalfingers in the song above. Download the mixtape and three singles off it (“Pressure Is On”, which is posted above; “U Won’t Like This”; and “Issues”) after the jump.

*Some people take the term “backpack rap” as negative, but I find nothing wrong in it. Sure, some backpackers can sound too preachy, but some of the best rappers and rap groups are given that label (ATCQ, Lupe, etc.). To me, it’s just a clever name for a subgenre.

TRP ft. Bossman – “B4lt1more” (Video)(Prod. Cookin Soul)

Wow, this song reps B-More to the fullest and keeps it real with their shots in the video. I will be honest that I hadn’t heard of TRP before this video but they hold their own on the track and Bossman always does his thing so it is worth the listen. When people from out of town find out I’m from Maryland a popular question is always whether Baltimore is as tough a city as The Wire portrays and I think from now on I might just direct them to this video. The Cookin Soul beat is dope too, I am a sucker for piano loops and the soulful sample also adds a nice touch to the chorus.

Bossman – I Wonder (Tribute To DJ K-Swift)

This Bossman video is a couple weeks old but I just discovered it and haven’t seen it too many places. It’s a tribute to the “Club Queen of Baltimore” DJ K-Swift who passed away this summer. The song is long but good, I’ve always liked Bossman’s flow.
