These three are about to head off on tour together and as promotion for it they all linked up to record a track together. As for the song, it has a dope retro feeling break beat and a great sample at the end and cool horn stabs for the chorus. “Breakin’ Dawn Boys” I’m sure will see at least a couple performances live during this tour and it would be great if I can make it to the Brooklyn show to see it. The tour will bring them to 25 mostly East Coast and Canadian cities so be on the lookout for them if you are in any of the areas.

Brother Ali – “Tight Rope” (Video)

Brother Ali drops the video for one of my favorite tracks from his latest album Us.

Brother Ali’s “Tight Rope” tells a story in three parts. Verse 1 tells of the Somalian refugees who try to find home and hope in Ali’s native Minneapolis. Verse 2 touches on the all too familiar subject of the broken home and the insurmountable obstacles of going on like normal when there’s really no such thing. Verse 3 boldly explores the psyche of a young man outcast by homosexuality, desperately trying to hold up what’s left of an open identity.

Listen to this song and pay attention the words and how Brother Ali explains the verses in the beginning because this could have been one of the best songs with a message of all of last year.

Brother Ali Raps While Justin Timberlake Beatboxes

Yep you read that right. I had to do a double take myself when I first saw the title but that is what the internet is reporting so then it must be true lol. The dude could be anyone vaguely resembling Justin Timberlake on a flip cam, it’s very hard to tell who it is but I thought I heard Brother Ali say JT’s name at some point during the performance. Either way this a cool performance and a very hip-hop moment in Jackson, Wyoming of all places, who knew?

First off, a belated happy holidays! Whatever you celebrate, hope you had a good one.

Your favorite albino rapper dropped this joint over Kanye’s “I’m So Appalled” via 2DBz. With 15 inches of snow in Minnesota, Brother Ali kept himself busy by spitting this for the blogs. Ironic isn’t it that the Midwest is covered in snow but up here in the Great White North, I’m looking out my window with not a snowflake in sight (damn straight).

If all of you out there are like me then you will just read the featured artists for this song and realize it is a must listen. There are quite a few dope cuts from the album but instead of putting a few up here I chose my favorite and will let you go buy the album this Tuesday. To fill everyone in on BK-One, he is a producer and also Brother Ali’s DJ and has a ton of great guest features on this album, just read the quote below form Rhymesayers’ website.

Rádio Do Canibal features appearances by Scarface, Slug (Atmosphere), Black Thought (The Roots), Brother Ali, Raekwon (Wu-Tang Clan), Murs (Living Legends), Phonte (Little Brother), Haiku D’ Etat (Aceyalone, Myka 9 & Abstract Rude), Blueprint, P.O.S. (Doomtree), The Grouch (Living Legends), I Self Devine, Toki Wright, Aby Wolf and The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

If you don’t know, now you know.

Brother Ali is one of the realest people out there spitting today. He raps about things we can all relate to and he doesn’t bullshit about what he has, where he has been or what he has done like almost every other spitter. The man also rhymes with more soul in one line then most rappers can hope for in an entire album and puts on a damn good live show. Convinced yet? Well you should be so make sure you buy his album Us on the 22nd and support real hip-hop.

Here is the first single from Brother Ali off of his upcoming album titled Us. Brother Ali is someone who I really respect lyrically and for just doing his own damn thing. His subject matter in his songs is some of the realest out there, who else talks about making pancakes with their kids and the daily activities they have with them as much as Brother Ali? The answer is no one and for that reason alone I will continue to support the man. Click this link here to pre-order his album.
