Donny GoinesPosts Tagged ‘Donny Goines’Donny goines gives us another video off of his album out now called Minute After Midnight. I like the songs that tell a story throughout the whole rap and this one is good one, talking of the struggles on the street. Statik Selektah provides the beat for this song and it is pretty soulful with the samples. Mills Miller directs the video and I am happy as hell that it isn’t Rik Cordero, no hating on Rik, rappers just need to realize there are other director’s out there. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. “This is grown folks music, you a child like Seaworld” haha. Wordsmith gives us a real nice surprise today by dropping a great song featuring a lot of young rappers on the scene. He’s also repping most of the big cities on the east coast on this record with the artist being from DC, NY and Baltimore. All of the verses are good and the beat, produced by Street Level, is quality with a mash of samples as the chorus. SIdenote: I know the title would make more sense as “Game, Set, Match” but I put “Point” because that is how the track is labeled. Donny Goines shoots off a video to his single from his album Minute After Midnight dropping Dec. 16th. I like the chorus and the verses always have something to say. The video is directed by Don Hankins and was recently featured on an MTVU show called The Freshman. Donny explains his whole reasoning behind the BARS segments in this in this clip. He addresses the haters and stands up for the internet sites and explains that part of his reasons were to show that when utilized correctly sites just like this can actually help an artist rather than hurt them. Holla Donny, who doesn’t want a bunch of free viral marketing? Also he wants to put a bunch of different artists on which I respect and he even shouts out my man Jon Hope in the video. Don’t forget to check out BARS Live at Knitting Factory NYC on Oct. 28th!
Here is the official video for the 2nd single from Donny’s album called Minute After Midnight coming to you in December. The video is all shot from one stationary camera in a small bedroom and Donny just goes about daily life and spits about it too. The fast motion effect had me feeling dizzy for a few minutes haha. This gets me excited for the BARS Live shows coming up at the Knitting Factory! Enjoy the weekend kiddos….
