enemy of the state

Ladies and gentlemen, B&B presents to  you Enemy Of The State: A Love Story. Both Corey and I have already praised Lupe enough in earlier posts, so there’s really not much left to be said. Clearly, this is a very important tape, considering especially how little Lupe we hear in between albums (which, bear in mind, there have only been two). Although his career is not the most prolific, his impact on hip-hop is stunning. From the tricky metaphors that he makes seem so natural to the genius that was behind the concept of his sophomore album, The Cool, Lupe rarely fails to impress. Enemy Of The State does not have original beats, which gives fans just one more thing to look forward to on Lasers. It is also presented in the truest of mixtape formats: cassette style (meaning that the whole tape plays as one track). Why are you still reading this? Go download the tape already!!

If you’d prefer to have this tape split into tracks, there’s a link for that too.

This is a sort of re-post so that I can send your way some new facts about Lupe Fiasco’s mixtape, which is dropping November 25.

As we’re approaching the release date for this tape, some more news dropped via Facebook and MTV Mixtape Daily. The mixtape finally has a name: Enemy Of The State: A Love Story. According to MTV Mixtape Daily, Lupe wants to prove he’s the best by any means necessary, therefore he’ll be dropping yet another new mixtape in the future and more albums after Lasers, which is welcoming news coming from the guy who cried “early retirement” not too long ago. Enemy Of The State will have no original beats and when asked as to why this is so, Lupe responded that he didn’t want to waste original production. I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again: Lupe Fiasco is one of the most talented rappers to have ever graced hip-hop, and so you can assume this is, as Clipse would say, kinda like a big deal.

Here is Gemstones with his new song featuring Chu Chu. This is definitely a different song and I’m not really sure what to make of it, I will have to let this marinate and definitely give it another listen. If you dig this his album is set to drop in ’09 so be on the lookout for it.
