The freestyle is alright, there are points where I am feeling what he is saying and other points where he clearly gets off track, for example the two Louie Vitton lines. Considering most new artists freestyle abilities are complete garbage these days, this is some good work. I have been waiting for this album for a while now and want it to be released sooner rather than later in ‘09.

After hearing their music for the first time last week, we immeadiately get hit up with another Idle Warship track. Turns out there is also a third member besides Talib Kweli and Res (pictured above), and her name is Graph Nobel and she reminds me of Gwen Stefani with her singing/rapping. I am not as high on this track as “Steady” but this clearly isn’t an album track so its cool to just get to hear some more music from them. I assume we will be bombarded with their stuff in the near future so I will keep you posted. KRS-One gives us a history lesson in this Spit Ya Game freestyle, literally. He talks about Alexander the Great and ancient Greece and the origins of democracy, this is something I never thought I would hear someone freestyle. I also haven’t posted anything with Mickey Factz in a while and didn’t want anyone to think I was sleeping on him. His freestyle is vicious and hope I get a lot more material from him in the future.

My man has been working with Q.P. out of Cleveland for some time now and he just released his new single “Ordinary Guy”. We have posted some of his stuff in the past, and his blog is also in our links section if you want to find out more. I have been waiting for his stuff for a little bit and am definitely geeked to get it, I’m just hoping this is just one in a long line of singles. EDIT: I thought I posted this earlier in the week but something messed up with the saving and publishing, so here is the rare weekend post for everyone. They say imitation is the best form of flattery but it can also be funny as hell at the same time. Cudi freestyles a verse while doing his best Too Short impression. He has the voice and the flow down so it sounds pretty damn good. This video made me think of one of my favorite slept on Too Short verses of the past few years so I am including it after the break. B.o.B. spits a freestyle over the beat for Lupe Fiasco’s song “Hip-Hop Saved My Life”. If this is a freestyle, and I say that with a lot of hestitation now, it is pretty fluid with the story telling throughout. This song was one of my favorite off of The Cool album and B.o.B. tells his story of how hip-hop has saved his life. Lupe also made a good video for this with some H-town rappers in it, since the story he is telling is based there.

RA just doesn’t stop putting out quality tracks, even her freestyles have me shaking my head and saying damn. I can’t get over how she spits, she is on another level compared to any other female artist on the come up. The chorus says it all “I tell MC’s they should forfeit now ’cause I’m queen and I want that crown.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
