We are going to keep it with the B&B approved artists today and throw a Jon Hope joint your way. All of the artists today, Yonas, S-Preme and Darren Hanible are all most of the artists who have gotten the full B&B stamp of approval and that probably explains why they were all on our mixtape released over a year ago. Jon goes in over the Kanye “Gorgeous” beat on this one for a quick track and keeps it real with the lyrics as he always does. Here is hoping that Jon hits us with a new project sometime in the near future but in the meantime we can all keep listening to Waterfire: Collection of Emotions until he hits us with it. Shouts to the dope house for the link. Download: Jon Hope – “In The Loop”
We’re back after too long of a hiatus and dealing with real life issues but what better way to bring us back than releasing my man Jon Hope’s latest project.
Grab the download link and tracklist below the break courtesy of DJBooth.
Jon Hope is exactly what I need for this hectic day and this joint was the perfect remedy for it all. He and Taktix joined up for the lead single called “Still Breathin’”, a followup to “Breathin’”, which was off of his last project called Somekind of Wonderful EP which dropped way back when. The two have quite the chemistry and I don’t think there is a bad one out of the handful of songs that they have collaborated on together. Everyone gear up for his new project dropping October 10th called Waterfire: Collection of Emotions, it came about quick and will certainly be up on B&B. Download: Jon Hope – “Pressure” (Prod. Taktix)
This week keeps getting better and better with the Redskins winning, attending the Eminem/Jay-Z show last night at Yankee Stadium, an S-Preme track and now one from my man Jon Hope. Both of those artists had the B&B stamp of approval long ago and were even both on our B&B mixtape released about a year ago. “Still Breathin’” seems to be a sequel to his “Breathin’” track which was initially featured on The Audacity because he quotes it at the end and even brings along Taktix for the ride again. Jon has some of the realest lyrics out there with no pretentious bullshit so be sure to grab his Somekind of Wonderful tape as well as the B&B exclusive “Change My Ways” and we now know that there is a new project titled The Waterfire dropping in October, cheaaaa! Common beats are sorely under utilized for remixes so I was happy to hear Jon going in over the “Drivin’ Me Wild” joint. Jon keeps the Lily Allen parts and drops general knowledge in his verses while mixing several witty punchlines. Rumor has it that “Brief Synopsis” is off an upcoming new project which we will certainly be featured on B&B whenever he decides to grace our ears with it. If you want to hear more go back and download his last project Somekind of Wonderful which I still bump to this day. Download: Jon Hope – “Brief Synopsis”
I have never heard of the producer Y. Eligant before but this was a track that was originally supposed to be on his album. Long story short, the album never came to fruition so the Rhode Island producer decided to release the songs he has already accumulated for it. The beat has a feel good, party vibe to it with a somewhat catchy sung chorus and some piano and bongo loops. Check out this unreleased joint from ’08 and also look out for more from Y. Eligant who I had never heard of before Jon tweeted this song. Download: Jon Hope – “We Rock” (Prod. Y. Eligant)

I was so glad to open up my Google reader this weekend and see this new material from JOn because it has been a little bit since we heard something new. Jon is one of my favorites of the new cats trying to make it for the content of his lyrics and we again are not disappointed. Nahright posted this joint and also stated that this is the first single off of Statik Selektah’s label Showoff so congrats to both on that. There will be no download link available and I suggest you go and spend your 99 cents over at iTunes to get the single. What I haven’t I said about Jon Hope that has been covered in the past? The dude is lyrical and always spits the real shit and is one of my favorites. This cut graces us due to the new 6th Sense mixtape that is coming soon called It’s A 6th Sense Mixtape Yo!! v.2 & 3. 6th is on the production and Mike Maven, an artist I haven’t heard before, is singing on the chorus. He also released a song with Chip Tha Ripper a few days ago that I didn’t get to but you can check that out at the link below too. If you go to the link every few days there should be new songs posted and you can download them and eventually the mixtape. Download: Jon Hope ft. Mike Maven – “Average Joe”

First we gave you the Jams but now it is time for the hip-hop gems. I said in the previous post that the past couple days I came up with the idea to post a few mixes that sum up my year in music. These joints are all songs that were some of the more solid underground songs that I listened to this past year and deserve more shine. A number of my favorite new artists are on there and this is another mix that is pretty damn complete. Look out for our final installment of rock songs which should drop over the next couple days. Link and tracklist are below the break and everyone have a happy and safe New Year!
