The Killers are mine and my brothers’ favorite rock band of the last 5 years, easy. So when I saw this Christmas song for RED, the organization which fights AIDS in Africa, it naturally had to go up for that reason and to officially kick off the holiday season here on B&B. On this song, the group adopts a more Mexican sound with the horn, guitar and drums, something I haven’t heard from them in the past. I’m also going to use this opportunity to turn you on to a song of theirs that you may have slept on before on B&B but is a must listen for anyone remotely interested in their music. That song is their “Joy Ride” (Night Verison) and it is already one of their favorite songs of mine and sounds nothing close to the original or like anything else they have ever done.
This will be the last post of a song from the New Moon soundtrack so if you want more songs I suggest you go to iTunes and buy the album. I could’ve posted more but tried to use some discretion about how much is acceptable to post online, because the whole album is going to be dope. Did anyone else think of Ace Ventura from When Nature Calls and the African tribe keep calling him “equinsu ocha” for “white devil” when you read this title? I know I sure did and it had me cracking up for a minute lol. Grab the tracklist, links to other songs and the download below the break.
Uh oh, Drake is going after the West Coast with this joint by getting my man Nipsey to collaborate on a track. I wasn’t sure Drake could hold his own on a hard record, much less one named “Killer”, but he goes in without being fake about it like most rappers do *cough*Rick Ross*cough*. I was just excited to see two rappers I like a lot collaborating and hope to see more of this in the future. Thanks to Toronto in the comments and OctobersVeryOwn for the track.

If you follow the blog, then you know I am a fan of the Killers and can’t help it. For this remix, they release a different version of their song “Joy Ride” on their latest album Day & Age and it is a monster clocking in at over 7 minutes long. They go off on some extended tangents during this jam (as you can imagine that will happen with 7 minutes to work with) and during the few points I think they are about to lose me they rope me right back into the song. After the first 1:25 of building off the drum beat (which is strange at first but then you get into it) the guitar comes in and that is when my favorite parts of the song begin. The vocals are soft and very few and far between as everything continues to progress around the drum groove until it mutates into a great pop song in the end. Definitely not the typical style of rock song that I like but I keep finding myself playing it over and over again so it is definitely worth the listen.
