vancouver gold medal

There are too many posts I wanted to make this weekend and not enough time, so for the sake of convenience, I’ll just throw it all up in one go. By the way, if you’re into hockey or just want something good to watch tomorrow, check out the gold medal game between the Canadian and the American men’s teams. If Canada wins, then we’ll hold the record for most gold medals won at a Winter Olympic Games. No pressure.

Kid Cudi – “Know Why” (unreleased Cudi from 2008). I’m feeling the chill vibe on this.

Ludacris – “Mind Freak” feat. Criss Angel (jokingly, not seriously). A nice little banger that’s supposedly an unused cut from Theater Of The Mind.

Mos Def – “Auditorium” feat. Slick Rick - fan video. The anime theme does justice to my favorite track off The Ecstatic.

Inspectah Deck, B.o.B., Gorillaz, and Jay Electronica after the jump.

To answer the question you are undoubtedly asking… yes, I do feel like a teenage girl for posting this song. Justin is talented though and this song is one of those radio smashes that I enjoy listening to with Luda providing his crazy flow to satisfy the too cool hip-hop contingent. Unlike other child artists, Justin Bieber actually has skill and I have said before to several friends that I think he is the next Justin Timberlake. All I ask is that if you have been too cool to listen to him to date then give this song a listen and you just might be surprised and if you still hate then don’t worry, you will be singing it at the bar/club/party in a couple weeks anyways.

Song: Stay Off The Fuckin’ Flowers feat. Raekwon

There have been many instances in music history when rap and rock collided to form products that we would much rather forget (insert Limp Bizkit joke here). Although the idea itself does not seem radical or impossible by any means, the success rate of rap/rock projects is abysmal. This was definitely not the case for Blakroc, a collaboration project between blues-rock duo The Black Keys and Dame Dash which exceeded everyone’s expectations. This project succeeded because of how well blues-rock works with hip-hop and because of the calibre of talent amongst the artists on the album allowed the music to come about naturally as opposed to contrived and forced (which is how many rap/rock projects sound). Everyone on this album brought their A-game; hell, even Jim Jones surprised everyone by spitting two of the hottest verses on the entire album (need I remind you that we’re comparing Jim Jones to other featured rappers like Mos Def and Q-Tip). Blakroc is the best collaboration project of the year because it never once felt forced.

Raheem throws down on this song, it is smooth as hell and should be a hit. The beat is also ridiculous and I would love to know who produced it. I am not a big R&B fan, but I do listen to some of it and this is my favorite song I have heard in a long time from that genre. Luda provides a quality verse too and I haven’t been saying much about him lately. I really wish Luda could’ve capitalized more on his talent, he was one of my favorite rappers after his Word of Mouf album dropped but since a little after that he has slowly been sliding down into irrelevancy on my list of favorites. That isn’t a shot but just how I feel about his recent raps. Cop this song off of the Love and War MasterPeace coming soon!

DL: Chamillionaire ft. Game & Ludacris – “Creepin Solo”

A new track leaked from Chamillionaire’s album due out sometime this year called Venom. There were versions of the unfinished song around with just Luda and Chamillionaire but this is the final version. Chamillionaire has always been alright to me but I really started to like this song when I heard The Game and finally Luda who just ripped it. We all know his flow is insane but everytime I hear him go in like this I will like the song by defualt. Props to LowKey for the track.

Ludacris – “Everybody Hates Chris” (Video)

Everybody Hates Chris from DTP TV on Vimeo.

I’m a little late on Luda’s new video but it’s still going up. I’m not gonna lie I’m a little bummed, I wanted to put up a post about Pimp C but the video isn’t working on the site and it’s pissing me off. Although I like Cris, I was really excited about the Pimp C post and when it didnt work I started cursing at the computer, this shit gets very frustrating sometimes. This song off of Theater of the Mind is funny though and it helped cheer me up, I hope I can get that video to you later.

Ludacris gets an allstar cast together to collaborate on this monster track titled “I Do It For Hip Hop”. As the tagged voice on the song will tell you this is from his album Theater of the Mind dropping Nov. 24th. Donny Goines had a DJ Static produced song of the very same title off of his mixtape The Excerpt a while back that is really dope too. I wish I had the remix with Jon Hope, A. Pinks, etc. but Donny hit me with the remix so click the break for the original which Donny destroys and the remix.
