official videoPosts Tagged ‘official video’Yes we know the first time we posted “Fuck You” that it was technically a video but this is the official one instead of just the lyrics. Let me state too that this has quickly jumped to one of my top songs, if not the top song, of this year for me and most certainly will be my jam for several months. The video compliments the song and although we all have been in similar situations that Cee-Lo describes in his lyrics the video has a happy ending. Watch for yourself and lookout for his new album called Lady Killer which releases December 7th in the U.S. “Number Won” is the first single to get the video treatment from Wale’s latest tape More About Nothing. He keeps it simple with some shots of what looks like his CD signing at Commonwealth in DC and a shot of him on the street with a crowd around him. I have to give Wale credit where it is due for the latest project, I have been a very critical supporter in the past but the dude keeps repping the DMV, his tapes always bang and he always brings it back to the shit I liked when I first started listening back to him in ’05. Monday I am checking out Wale at the Highline Ballroom in NYC for his mixtape release party and since it is sold out I would hit up the scalpers if you want to join in the fun. I love these summer videos and songs that almost make me forget that 90% of the days so far this summer in NYC have been over 90 degrees.
I haven’t made it all the way through the Mothership/L A N D tape yet but the first half was dope. Shout out to Bed-Stuy and the people I know out there, you all know who you are. I’m going to have to check out this Laws mixtape after this joint, I have been sleeping on it way too long. Laws brings together two other rappers I listen to for the remix to his single “Hold You Down” and it is an anthem! Emilio brings his unique flow to the record on the first verse while K.R.I.T. brings his southern drawl coupled with his lyricism to the second one and Laws shuts it down with the third. Laws released the tagless extended version of his tape 4:57 called 5:01 and it can be download from DJBooth.net by clicking on the album title above.

Wow, just wow, I am left speechless after this video! Everything is stunning about it, from her vocals, to her emotion and even her looks are all stunning. The way she rocks out and dances you almost forget how good looking she is underneath her tuxedo and her iconic hair. “Cold War” also proves that simplistic videos work if the song is quality and the artist is charismatic enough to evoke emotion for the track. Check this out for yourself and also be sure to pick up her album The ArchAndroid which is available now. Oh and I almost forgot that if you haven’t seen her in concert that is a must if she stops anywhere near you, it is the best show I have seen in a long time. I posted this song a while back and the one word to describe it is 80s. The video follows suit and portrays a cheesy 80s video theme without it feeling corny, although I’m sure lesser fans out there might disagree. Chromeo uses some simple blackout effects to create interesting visuals and then there are a set of eyes popping out and taking on a life of their own that look like they’re straight from Beetlejuice. Look for the album on Sept. 14th along with the whole G.O.O.D Music label. It isn’t often that you get two songs for a video but Fashawn doubled up with this one and kept the video seamless. The idea is brilliant that when he steps into the car with Planet Asia he immediately gets into the “The Score” and it doesn’t feel contrived at all. Both songs are on Fashawn’s album Boy Meets World which I never spent enough time on in the first place and need to revisit after this one. It feels good to get some more West Coast up here because I feel like I’m always lagging on it and am always covering Nipsey.
