Shad – “Keep Shining” (Video)

This joint is a month late but I make no apologies for it anymore because any day that you get to start out with Shad can’t be a bad one. All the people who harp on the negativity in rap need to see this video and same with the people who claim it is all misogynistic because no one uplifts women more and sends a positive than Shad in “Keep Shining”. The dude has become one of my favorite rhymers over the past few years and those two reason are only part of it. “Keep Shining” is from his latest album called TSOL and it can be purchased here. Also if you’re in the NYC area make sure to check him out in one of the smallest venues he could be in at Webster Hall’s Studio in April so get your tix now.

Darren Hanible – “Mite Not Be” (Video)

We’re back from hiatus and conveniently so is my man Darren who unleashed this on us during our absence. “Mite Not Be” originally debuted on his Daft Punk inspired tape called Bliss but he found a way to sneak it in on his latest project called The Doghouse and I’m loving it. It is one of my favorite joints he has done to date and the video complements his story of him kicking some game to a nice little chica. All the DH fans (and those interested in new, dope music) should go download The Doghouse, it is easily my favorite project of his and the dude is sorely underrated.

Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi & Rihanna – “All of the Lights” (Video)

NOTE: Please read and respect the warning at the beginning, I don’t need any of you to go dying on me.

So yeahhh, this video doesn’t really do it for me and I’m sure I am going to to take some shit for it. The video starts out with what looks like a good video with the small girl walking around the city streets, but then it evolves into Kanye dancing on cop cars with little link back to the opening sequence. A major opportunity was missed in involving that plot of shielding your daughter from the ills of inner city life, however, it was mostly lost by the disjointed nature of the rest of the video. There is one redeeming factor though and it happens to be Rihanna’s boobs, it really is amazing how someone can look so much better when they are half naked lol.

WOLF GANG WOLF GANG. These dudes are the shit and there is nothing anyone can say to change my opinions on them. I have seen them live a couple times now and it is easily the best rap show I have ever been to. Their music is certainly the counterculture to the current trend of rappers being soft and making pop music and it contains an anger that I haven’t seen since Eminem.  Seriously, I can rave about them all day but I suggest you check out a show yourself and check out their blog for any updates. Tyler’s album called Goblins is going to be released sometime in the near future on XL so keep your eyes and ears peeled for that. FREE EARL bitches!

Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg & Akon – “Kush” (Video)

It is hard to not think Detox will be here at some point over the next several months now that we have an official single out with a video. The video isn’t cheap either with lots of cool camera tricks and different sets that all mesh together to show the artists’ ballin lifestyles. Don’t worry, Dre didn’t go all Wiz Khalifa/Curren$y on us, he informed us that the this is the only weed related song on the album so expect some vicious new tracks unrelated to this one. The next step is to give us some sort of release date for this after a decade of waiting because I still feel reserved about actually believing this is finally coming out.

Homeboy Sandman – “Strange Planet” (Video)

Homeboy Sandman laces us with a new single off his highly acclaimed album, The Good Sun. “Strange Planet” focuses on Homeboy taking us to a far off planet created by his lyrics that also highlights his unique rhyming abilities as much as his creative lyrics. The video is some off the wall shit too that is over my head but you can watch for yourself and hopefully you will have an explanation for me and leave it in the comment section. The Good Sun has been in stores and you can get it from iTunes here.

What a cool ass concept that wasn’t too hard to creats but still makes it look like the video had great special effects.

B.o.B reflects on his rise to the top in the Ethan Lader-directed video for “Don’t Let Me Fall,” the fourth single from his debut album The Adventures of Bobby Ray, which combines old footage with newly shot scenes. Bobby Simmons strums his guitar in the gravity-defying clip, shot on the sidewalks of downtown Denver and at Colorado’s open-air Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Get your back up off the wall below.

This also happens to be one of my favorite tracks from the album.

Lykke Li – “Get Some” (Official Video)

Several weeks ago I posted this viral video for “Get Some” and this official version kicks the shit out of that one. I do think I am partial to the Swedish indie-rock singer wearing a sexy outfit and gyrating in this video on top of being one of my favorite in that genre, but either way the song still rocks. The video doesn’t  feature much else besides her dancing in front of a screen playing graphics in the background and some simple effects, however, for once I am more than alright with it lol. Lykke Li has a new project coming out titled Get Some/Paris Blue and that will be a must cop for me since her last album Youth Novels was one of my favorites of ’09.

The Incomparable Shakespeare – “Wonderwall” (Remix)(Official Video)

I’m not sure how I feel about this one by Shakespeare because it is extremely hard to successfully remix the classics. This is the first remix I have heard of Oasis’ “Wonderwall” and he keeps the original predominantly intact with some added drums and few other alterations. I do like the message and the video brought a different perspective when I saw them taking hip-hop posters off of a wall but I’m still on the fence because I have listened to the original hundreds of times. You can grab his old project called British Invasion courtesy of the Booth below the break.
