Raekwon gives us a treat by dropping on us the tagless version of “What Do I Do” off of his latest mixtape Blood On Chef’s Apron. The beat is pretty dope with the bass line and cool loop of the sampled voices. I have been all about these simple clean beats recently, just a loop or two on top of the drum line and letting the artist take over from there. Below the break you can get the download link and hear Rae and Crooked I chop it up about the Rock the Bells tour, something I regret not having been to yet. I don’t even have to tell you anymore, it’s the summer of the Wu.

I went on a little Raekwon hiatus recently but that is only because I know we have the rest of the summer to keep getting tracks from him in preparation for Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, which is still scheduled for an August 11th release date. But don’t you worry, we are back with some more tracks from the Chef himself and I am liking it. The beat is pretty simple but it really works for the song Raekwon is trying to create, it bangs a little bit with that deep bass line but Tru Master, the producer, keeps it simple and forces you to listen to the lyrics. I think these are the types of beats the average person can remember, the repetition helps but so does the simplicity of the loops, there are only a few distinct parts that are easily recognizable to even the untrained ear. Be on the lookout for more of what the Chef has been cooking up (ha ha) this summer, I already dubbed it the summer of the Wu with Method Man teaming up with Redman for another album and Raekwon dropping his latest solo effort. Check below the break to download.

A new cut off of the Jay Stay Paid album and we get two quality artists to help out. In case you missed it, J Dilla is putting out a posthumous album on June 2nd of unreleased songs and it is being overseen by his mother. To read more about the album and get the tracklist click here. The beat that Dilla constructed for this song is interesting, it is almost just white noise in the background, even the drum beat, with two bass notes being played over top. Check it out for yourselves and get excited to go buy this album.

A new DJ-less song off of his new mixtape Blood On The Chef’s Apron, which you can go get now. The song in’t my favorite but since I didn’t thorw up the whole mixtape I feel obligated to put his one up. Honestly, what I really can’t wait for is Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 which is supposed to drop in August and is going to be fire. OnSmash also hinted at the fact that he is going to have four Dr. Dre beats on the album too, it really doesn’t get much better than that. Dre beats plus all the guests we have heard already means it is going to be really hard for this album to fail.

I’m not sure I have ever had a Game song on the site but since it is with Raekwon I don’t think everyone will care. This is going to be the summer of the Wu with Raekwon and Method Man (with Redman) releasing albums and bringing a lot of their Wu group members along for features. This song is growing on me. I initially didn’t like the beat really or the verses too much but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention the first time because the lyrics talk about some real issues but the beat still doesn’t grab my attention. Does it bother anyone else that they mispronounce “etiquette” in the chorus? Maybe I am just being too much of a nerd but that doesn’t sound deliberate to me. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 coming in August.

In preparation for Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 Raekwon drops a video from the album and gives us a whole new mixtape. “Resolution” is from the new mixtape available on Raekwon’s MySpace and here is what he had to say about it.

“The Staten Go Hard Vol. 1 Mixtape is a collabo with me and The Brinks Boyz that will be available exclusively for download on my Myspace  page. Its a lot of flavors that I’m bringing to y’all before dinner is served. We got that Cuban Linx PII dropping August 11th so keep y’all ears to the street and cop that real Hip-Hop.”

DL:Raekwon ft. Busta Rhymes & Uncle Murda – “Stick Up Muzic”

And another one… Raekwon has been releasing tracks like it is going out of style in ‘09. This is one more track that didn’t make the cut for Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 which makes me wonder which hot tracks did make it on the album. The beat samples “Mr. Cool” by Rasputin’s Stash, the same song sampled for “We Fly High” by Jim Jones. I am starting to get really excited about the album and hoping more and more that it will be able to live up to it’s title as the sequel to OB4CL although I’m not sure if it can ever live down all the hype. Click the break below to see some behind the scenes footage from the “Wu Ooh” video shoot.
