Mick Boogie, nVMe and Duck Down present their newest tape featuring many of the rappers bubbling on the underground right now as you can see above. Yesterday we got something from the SMKA mixtape, which also features a lot of the rappers I like, and today we get a leak from a similarly hot tape and it is just what I need to start off the new year right. I haven’t heard an anthem song like this in a while so it was cool to see the guys from the BX link up to represent for hip-hop’s birthplace as the new generation. Congrats to CAUSE for making some moves lately too by jumping on the Whoo Kid hosted joint and this tape too. Download: CAUSE, The Kid Daytona & Chaundon – “South Bronx” (Remix) Before I headed back to the DMV for the holidays I was fortunate enough to attend the CAUSE performance at the Webster Hall Studio and per usual it was a good show. Lyriciss (backed up by Pro’Verb) was one of the opening acts and Prophit as well Shanelle Gabrielle tore up the mic too. I left shortly after it ended so I didn’t catch CAUSE, DJ Fat Fingaz and Dead Stock Ric give us this shout out but we certainly appreciate it. Shouts to JM too for putting this all together, as I said I was unaware and without a camera but he came through in the clutch so enjoy this exclusive video from the show. What better way to get people to go to a show then to post up a video of a past performance. “Just To Get By” was performed at his Sullivan Hall show in September and I am late to put it up. My friend Julius got some great footage from it and sent some of it to me and I thought this was a great one to share for everyone. The acapella performance forces you to listen to his lyrics and message and shows that even without the beat it is still solid, the mark of a good song. If you are around NYC tonight come on out to Webster Hall to see CAUSE, Lyriciss and others perform, get all the info on the flyer after the break. This video seems like it is really late since his album Universal Mind Control dropped so long ago but I still like the original concept. It isn’t close to my favorite Common song but I enjoyed the positivity of the track and also hearing two artists I respect immensely linking up. I’m sure some people will not like the song because it is a little bit cheesy but I appreciate the new directions Common attempts to incorporate in his raps and the fact that he doesn’t feel the need to make typical rap songs all day. I know Common is working on a new album titled The Believer but I am not sure when he plans to release it but I hope it is soon. Since Felipe joined our team and reps Canadian hip-hop to the fullest with his posts I haven’t had the opportunity to cover the scene in a while but I am glad I get the chance to post Shad’s new video. Shad is someone that I only recently discovered but I already got his last album and I have to say he is one of my favorites to listen to at the moment. He has a smooth, chill style, always has great content to his rhymes and lyrically is very gifted, I think that is about the best compliment I can give to any of the rappers I put up here. The video for “The Calling” matches his cool demeanor and is a real video without the need to go over the top with effects. I’m not sure the placement for this song but I can only hope it means that he has a new project on the way. According to ingz in the comment section this song is from Danny Digg’s Introducing EP and it also features Jermiside & Destruments. New Cause for your ears and whips! This is a great summer jam and something with a smooth beat and great chorus. I was actually lucky enough to hear this song before it’s release and have liked it the whole time. He really is a versatile rhymer and I like that he switches it up a lot showcasing his skill. For those who don’t know, Cause will be rocking Sullivan Hall on Sept. 5th and I encourage you all to come out for it. There will be special guest performances and it should be a good time so mark it on your calendar today. After listening to his mixtape, Print shot up my list of favorite new rappers and is now somewhere near the top. He has great lines and a unique style and creates an overall feel for songs that I am really feeling right now. This beat is pretty unique with the percussion and horn loops and it is produced by Tri-State. If you’re feeling him grab the track below the break and the mixtape in the link above.
