It is a little odd since she has since had another tape called Victory Lap but I’m not complaining and it could be her dopest video to date. There is a ton of artwork that went into this and it adds a whimsical feel to the whole video as if it is a children’s cartoon show and I mean that in the best possible way. Both of her projects are available for download by clicking their respective titles above. This song goes hard. Check out the latest from my favorite female artist and DMV native, RAtheMC, and see what is popping off of her latest project also called Victory Lap. “Victory Lap” is filmed at various spots in the DMV and there is even a funny little exchange between RA and her crew (film crew haha) and a security person. I haven’t listened to that tape enough since it dropped but after watching this I am putting it on as we speak. Finally, that LaSonic boombox is dopeness! Yes, this is a very random sidenote but I have been seeing them a lot more recently and that is some real hip-hop in a box.
Our favorite female MC, and one of our favorite MCs, unshackles her latest effort and frees it for the masses. I always anticipate her projects and this one is no different and I fully expect it to live up to her past joints. Victory Lap sees prominent features and production from her Studio 43 brethren AB the Producer and XO as well as some other DMV area artists along with some remixes and freestyles thrown in there for good measure. As RA’s latest effort Victory Lap approaches she decides to lace us with a quick remix from it. I was feeling it even though it was a quick song but the dude doing ad libs needs to stop it. I understand that they are a part of hip-hop, and especially mixtapes, but the dude just says something and then drops the N bomb at the end of about 20 statements made at the beginning and end. Don’t let this dude scare you away though, RA keeps up her ferocious word play and even brings a different flow than is usual for her. I missed a previous track called “Sky’s The Limit” with AB the Producer over the holidays so I will include the downloads for both below the break. RA continues to tear it up on the mic and we finally get a visual off of her Heart of A Champion project. Don’t sleep on this girl for long though because she has a mixtape dropping called Victory Lap which is dropping sometime “soon”. The video itself demonstrates the dream of becoming a rapper and going from performing in your bedroom to performing for an auditorium full of people. It’s funny to see how the rest of the fashion world finally caught up with RA’s style too, when I first saw her I thought her outfit was outrageous (in a good way) but now it seems every hipster in Williamsburg is biting it. As for her rapping style, there aren’t many that can bite that so educate yourself now.
Yep, let’s keep it real DMV today and go from The Five One to one of my favorite DMV spitters in RAtheMC. She brings fellow Studio 43ers Uptown XO and AB the Pro to help on the track and I had not listened to Gordo before but he throws down on it too. AB also makes some nasty beats but he also decides to throw some vocals on the track and it has been a minute since we heard him on the mic. No butt implants needed here, Nicki get the hell out of the way and let a real female MC show you how to rhyme without making yourself into a gimmick. RA brings it again (as if I really have to say that over and over and over again) for this short jam where she sings the chorus and brings the raw lyrics and flow. “Breaking Point” highlights the point in a relationship when a woman (in this case, but this applies to all) have had enough and decide to end it for the betterment of everyone involved and I’m sure many of us have been there. Get ready because tomorrow the 31st RA drops her latest effort titled Heart of A Champion. RA goes hard over the prominent horn loop and decides not to sing for this one but still deliver the hard hitting lyrics which make her one of my favorite MCs. Anyone who follows us somewhat regularly knows our love for RA and her first project with Studio 43, Heart of A Champion, will further expose her to the masses as one of the best females doing it in the game. “One Shot” is the latest single off of RA’s upcoming tape called Heart of A Champion which drops on August 31st. RA switches up her flow for this one and even with synths on the chorus still manages to get grimey when the verses switch up. She also sings on this one for the chorus similar to her other release from the album called “Intoxicated”.
