Yonas ft. Phil Ade – “Nobody Else” (Remix)
April 26

I would like to put this offering up for free and say congrats to Yonas for releasing his first album called Proven Theory.

Last week saw the release of the album version of this song, a track that, in YONAS’ own words, speaks on having an “appreciation for the women of the world, and more so, the important role they play when upholding our culture,” and with the remix, the two emcees continue to build on this foundation. “I’ve gotta give a shout to the homie Phil Adé for hopping on this record and further addressing his through and emotions regarding his relationship with his mother,” says YONAS. “It’s a deep verse, and I knew when I’d put out the original that he’d be a good fit for the remix.” The song was orchestrated due in part to the efforts of DJ Z over at DJBooth.net, who brought the two emcee’s together and was produced, along with all of The Proven Theory, by frequent collaborator Sean Divine.

We love seeing artists rise through the ranks over here and are as happy as hell for Yonas and wish him all the best in the upcoming bidding war. Check below for links to the song and to download his album.

Machine Gun Kelly – “Get Laced”(Cleveland Wins) (Video)

I finally get to post about Machine Gun Kelly as I have meant to for close to a year now. All my Cleveland friends have been raving about him for a while now and this joint had me hooked from the second I heard the Bun B beat. In fact, Bun B’s Trill album is one of my favorites of all time from the South and this song is one of the rawest on it. Rumors are swirling too about him signing to a label and I am only hoping that it isn’t a major one. Read more below and grab the link to his mixtape Lace Up.

Adele ft. Childish Gambino – “Rolling In The Deep” (Jamie xx Remix)

Now this is something that is easy for me to get behind. I am a big fan of both Childish Gambino (who had one of my favorite mixtapes of last year) and Adele and this Jamie xx remix nails it for both of them. Remixes aren’t my thing typically but if you bring a new exclusive verse from a  rapper and don’t overdo the beat chances are that I will be feeling it in the end. Check out for Adele’s latest album called 21 which is set to drop Feb. 22nd on this side of the pond and should’ve released Monday in the UK.

XV – “H.A.M. (Heroes Amongst Men)”

XV unleashes this little ditty for us which has him going in over the latest Jay & Kanye song called “H.A.M.”. We all know that every rapper and their brother will remix this joint due to lack of originality and everyone being on Kanye’s jock  so I wasn’t too excited to see that XV also wanted to hop on the bandwagon too. The song is alright and is certainly a deviation from his typical jams and it will do him alright as a one off joint that never sees a tape/record. One thing I will say after one listen though is that this one is better than the original and I can’t believe I am saying that considering who is on that one.

Muppets Remake Kanye x Josh Groban Sings Kanye’s Tweets
January 7

It’s Friday so why not have a little fun at Kanye’s expense. Both of these popped up in my inbox this week and both had me laughing my ass off. The Muppets remaking Kanye is dead on and Nicki Minaj as Ms. Piggy had me literally LOLing. Josh Groban singing Kanye tweets on the other hand was awesome for the absurdity of Kanye’s thinking and the classical sounding vocals of Josh. I have never been a fan of Josh Groban but his cool factor certainly stepped up in my book after watching this video. Get that video below the break.

Wiz Khalifa ft. Snoop Dogg, Juicy J & T-Pain – “Black & Yellow” (G-Mix)

Every time I hear this I wish I was from Pittsburgh and now Khalifa brings it to the next level with all these people hopping on the remix. Snoop and Juicy J add nicely to the song while T-Pain sounds out of place but I’m sure like everything T-Pain, if you heard it in a club it would sound just right. Wiz adds a new verse at the end of the song himself making the remix official instead of cutting and pasting some verses together and calling it one. I was trying to figure out the placement for this single but after the hype it has gotten I assume it has be on his next project.

Big K.R.I.T. ft. Curren$y & Killa Kyleon – “Moon & Stars”

It is good to get a new (and by that I mean remixed) KRIT track to play for the holidays because it reminds me to go back and listen to his highly acclaimed tape KRIT Wuz Here. We were a little late on KRIT over here at the studio hangar but it quickly climbed up our list and others’ as one of the top projects of the year. For this remix, he grabs the Houston underground rapper Killa Kyleon, who happens to be underrated, and everyone’s favorite weed head not name Khalifa for the remix and they all do their things on the verses. Do yourself a favor and download the project ASAP so you can acquaint yourself to what all the other blogs are talking about when they release their top 10 lists of the year. Shouts to TRU for the download link.

Jay Electronica ft. Tone Treasure – “Jazzmatazz”

My favorite of the latest crop of rappers comes through with a vicious jam in memory of Guru. According to Jay Elec himself, this was produced by Premier and for Group Home and was the intro for their album Living Proof (and being completely honest I had to look up who they were too). The beat is a laid back jazz groove from the mid 90s and would’ve been at home on a Tribe album minus the MLK speech at the beginning of it. Thank you Jay for all the recent tracks, they were all much appreciated and all dope so please keep them coming.

Marky goes in over Dr. Dre’s “Kush” and this beat goes hard.

This is the Dr. Dre “KUSH” joint! I mean, I don’t smoke so… I “PUSH” the blunt back to whomever try to pass it to me (wack? so what – its my BDAY!) lol

The beat cranks so hard – it was only right I kick off my campaign with this here! “@Markyland” mixtape is coming baby! I just have a couple of things in store for you BEFORE we get there…

Looks like 2011 is the year of Marky so stay tuned for any further updates.

Jon Hope – “In The Loop”
December 2

We are going to keep it with the B&B approved artists today and throw a Jon Hope joint your way. All of the artists today, Yonas, S-Preme and Darren Hanible are all most of the artists who have gotten the full B&B stamp of approval and that probably explains why they were all on our mixtape released over a year ago. Jon goes in over the Kanye “Gorgeous” beat on this one for a quick track and keeps it real with the lyrics as he always does. Here is hoping that Jon hits us with a new project sometime in the near future but in the meantime we can all keep listening to Waterfire: Collection of Emotions until he hits us with it. Shouts to the dope house for the link.
