One of my favorite musical geniuses, David Byrne, teams up with Fatboy Slim for a project that focuses on the life of the First Lady of the Phillipines, Imelda Marcos.
Santigold takes all of the singing for this one and keep an eye out for this album. Grab the link below the break.

The end of the year is upon us and after thinking about it the past few days I decided to put together a few mixes that recapped my year in music. First out the gate is the Hip-Hop Jams mix and it is as many of the songs that I rocked for either a little or long period at some point this year. Besides that, the only other criteria I used was that I tried to only take songs off mixtapes and not albums, for obvious reasons. Due to my computer crash, I was unable to recover all my music so this isn’t everything but it is as accurate as I could get. Enjoy the mix and check back for the second of mix of the trilogy called Hip-Hop Gems. You can grab this download and tracklist below the break.

Here is the newest video from N.A.S.A. off their album Spirit of the Apollo and just like the rest of the videos it is pretty crazy and has an all-star guest features on it. I wonder how many videos they will release for this album? I am not complaining in the least bit but this is at least the 4th video for this album alone and hopefully they keep them coming. N.A.S.A. recently announced their U.S. tour dates too so check after the break to get those and if you haven’t already, GO GET THE ALBUM!

This song is off of the SouthernGold mixtape being put together by Terry Urban and Gold Coin and it is due out for free download on June 1st. At first this song sounded like Chip just sampled a Santigold chorus but at the end she comes in with her own verse (sort of) but it still seems cut short. This is probably my favorite song by Chip and I think it has a lot to do with the theme established by Santigold in the chorus and at the beginning of the song. The beat is by Mike Cash and very original with different techno sounds and deep bass loops which complements both of their styles well. Still the most impressive thing for me is still the theme of “Anne’s Plan” which is the common throughout the chorus and Chip’s verses, something hip-hop songs have a hard time doing and often miss. Santigold switches it up for us and goes for more of a reggae sound with this song and it sounds damn good. The way she was singing and the guitar really reminded me of Gwen Stefani with No Doubt and I mean that in a very complimentary way. After doing some research this song is a year old but I had never heard it so everyone else needs to get their hands on it. This is definitely a good summer track and should make a lot of playlists solely for that reason. Download it over at RCRDLBL.com: Santigold – Your Voice N.A.S.A. continue with the animated videos with the singles from their album Spirit of the Apollo which is out now. The song is a remix of of the original song done by Lykke Li and Santigold (formerly Santogold) and is the great DJing dopeness that is N.A.S.A. Three Legged Legs are the directors and they take you on a trip through space and has an original story behind the animation as do all of their videos. Oh and another Kanye feature, this man is out of control. I feel like the guy in the hotels.com commercial where he starts pouring the shampoo on his head, “It’s working, it’s working” Kanye you got me. Drake rounds up some big names for the remix to “Unstoppable” and the beat by Diplo is very interesting. Weezy hops on a verse and uses the AutoTune again when no one else on the song uses one. The beat is out there and not in a bad way, I don’t dislike it at all but there is a lot going on. Drake has a dope verse at the beginning to…in fact I need to listen to this again, I think I need to get over Weezy’s AutoTune when I listen this time haha.
