Wordsmith gives us a real nice surprise today by dropping a great song featuring a lot of young rappers on the scene. He’s also repping most of the big cities on the east coast on this record with the artist being from DC, NY and Baltimore. All of the verses are good and the beat, produced by Street Level, is quality with a mash of samples as the chorus. SIdenote: I know the title would make more sense as “Game, Set, Match” but I put “Point” because that is how the track is labeled. This crazy ass cypher went down last night at the Knitting Factory in NYC. K-Salaam was on the one’s and two’s and this cypher consists of Donny Goines, Mickey Factz, Skyzoo, Sha Stimuli, Torae, Panama, Melo X, Phase One, Mista Mista, Esso and Apinks. Skyzoo and Torae teamed up at a CMJ event this past week to perform their song “Get It Done”. For those of you that don’t know, CMJ is a huge music festival that goes on for a week or two up here in NYC every fall. It showcases various genres of music (rock, hip-hop and everything in between) and there are dozens of shows every night all over the city. Here is just one of the little gems that occurred during CMJ.

Skyzoo brings us back to ‘06 for this track. Just another solid track to listen to with everyone delivering the quality goods. It’s always good to hear 9th Wonder and Little Brother together, it really brings me back.

Another NYC joint from Statik and his album Stick 2 the Script. This is probably my favorite one yet with the sample heavy beat and the line up on the verses. This one isn’t just for the ladies!

This is my kind of song right here. One of NY’s hottest underground rappers throws down with one of D.C.’s hottest rappers, what could possibly go wrong? Not sure what album/mixtape this song is off of but would definitely like to find out.

This song is off of Mick Boogie’s upcoming mixtape The Honor Roll. This is a concept mixtape where Mick got a bunch of producers, like 6th Sense for this track, to recreate classic hip-hop beats and have some of todays rappers, like Mistah FAB, Talib Kweli and Kidz in the Hall etc., to spit over them. Pretty cool idea if you ask me. This is the Naughty by Nature song “Dirt All By My Lonely” and I can’t wait to see what other classics get remixed.
