Time to take it to the Left Coast for a minute and give them some coverage which I feel like I slack on sometimes. The Grouch has been around for about a decade in the Bay area (and now LA) and in the past 6 months or so I have started to listen more and more to his music. He isn’t someone who will have the wittiest lines or wordplay but he is the guy just spits quality lyrics and usually with a positive message. Amazingly, this track comes to us from the Step Up 3D movie soundtrack and honestly I am not mad at it. These guys get their money and it helps expose them to a different, younger audience which is never a bad thing.

The Grouch is someone I recently started listening to and he always brings a real message with his tracks. I think 2DopeBoyz summed up this song best with the quote below.

Second single off the Living Legend’s 2009 release, Three Eyes Off the Time. Originally intended to be released next week with the video following the week after, but released early as the song was inspired by a Guru line from Gang Starr’s Who’s Gonna Take the Weight. Check out his site for his thoughts on Guru’s personal influence to himself and his peers.

RIP to Guru too, I know I tweeted it but I don’t think I ever said it on here. Sadly, I don’t think we have heard the end of that whole messy situation.

Time to bust out of our DMV/NYC/Toronto bubble here at B&B and post someone I have been listening to recently originally from the Bay. The Grouch is on the Living Legends label and has been doing his things for years on the underground and I’m digging the production and lyrical content. On this particular track the positivity oozes through the video with him teaching the kids and the mantra of “say it loud, say it proud” for the chorus. Expect more from the Grouch on the site and this song is on Three Eyes Off The Time which you can purchase now.
